The Green MPs are currently seeking staff to fill several positions supporting our Parliamentary team. Positions are currently available both as Executive Assistants supporting individual Green MPs and as specialist advisors in our Political and Media Advisory Team.

The successful applicants will be employed by the Parliamentary Service, which is committed to EEO and good employer principles.

Executive Assistants to Green Members of Parliament

The following Green MPs require an efficient, organised person to work in a one-on-one relationship; providing personal and administrative support, and support with research and/or communications in relevant portfolio areas.

  • Jeanette Fitzsimons (Sustainable Economics, Energy, Climate Change)

  • Sue Bradford (Social Development, Industrial Relations, Housing)
  • Keith Locke (Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Ethnic Affairs)
  • Kennedy Graham (Foreign Affairs, Sustainable Economics, Constitutional Issues, Justice).

Ideal candidates will be self-starters with plenty of initiative and excellent communication skills. Activities will be directed by the member, and you will be required to act with integrity and good judgment on their behalf.

Knowledge of the MP’s portfolio areas is a plus.

These are full-time positions of 40 hours per week, based in the Parliamentary complex in Wellington.

A starting salary of $45,705 will be offered to the successful applicants.
A special service allowance of $4,000 may apply.

Leaders' Office positions:

Required from mid January 2009:

Media Coordinator – Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Co-Leaders, the successful candidate will have significant experience in media relations and is responsible for overall media strategy and managing staff activities in our Political and Media Advisory Team.

Required from early February 2009:

Political and Media Advisors (x2) – Reporting to the Media and Political Coordinators, these roles have broad portfolio responsibilities. They advise MPs on legislation and policy, and develop media stories and press releases.

Suitable candidates include those with backgrounds in investigative journalism, politics, or in the analysis of policy and legislation. Candidates with training or experience in economics are encouraged to apply.
